The Chairman of the Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Adamu Mohammed Duguri, has expressed dismay over the attitude of some public school teachers in Bauchi Local Government Area.
Alhaji Muhammad Duguri made his feelings known while participating in a monitoring exercise conducted by the Bauchi Local Government Education Committee at Zungur District.
He reminded teachers that, they had entered into a moral and professional bond with both their Creator and the government.
The SUBEB Chairman stressed the need for them to take their responsibilities seriously in order to safeguard their careers and contribute meaningfully to the growth of education in the state.
He also called on parents and guardians to prioritize their children’s education by ensuring regular enrolment and attendance, noting that, education remains the surest path to responsible citizenship and a better future.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Bauchi Local Government Education Committee, Surveyor Ibrahim Saidu Jahun, expressed optimism that the committee’s efforts would transform the state’s education system at the grassroots level.
Surveyor Ibrahim Sa’idu assured that traditional institutions would continue to support the education initiatives of the present administration under Governor Bala Mohammed.
Also speaking, the Education Secretary of the Bauchi Local Education Authority, Hajiya Talatu Yakubu, said the Education Committee was established to strengthen the delivery of basic education policies and promote enrolment across the local government.
Hajiya Talatu, who also serves as the Secretary of the Committee, added that the initiative aims to boost school attendance and reduce the number of out-of-school children in the area.
Schools visited during the exercise included Central Primary School and Junior Secondary School Liman Katagum, as well as Zungur Primary School.
