Bala Wunti Support Organisation Backs Student Innovation To Tackle Development Challenges in Bauchi

The Bala Wunti Support Organisation has restated its commitment to support grassroots development and youth empowerment by investing N2,000,000 to support student-led innovations aimed at addressing critical societal challenges in Bauchi State.

The intervention, channelled through the Bala Wunti 247 Students Network, funded the hosting of the Innovation for Impact Summit, a platform designed to showcase creative solutions and inventions by students across tertiary institutions and selected secondary schools in the state.

The summit, held in Bauchi, brought together participants from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Sa’adu Zungur University, Gadau, and other institutions where the students showcased practical innovations targeting key sectors to include health, agriculture, climate change, ICT, cybersecurity, communications, and artificial intelligence.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Organisation, Architect Mukhtar Jarmajo, said the organisation’s intervention is driven by the urgent need to support homegrown solutions to persistent socio-economic challenges.

Represented by the Bauchi Local Government Coordinator of the Organisation, Mr Khalid Nasiru Garba, Arch Jarmajo noted that innovation goes beyond technology, stressing that it involves developing practical solutions to real-life problems, especially in areas often overlooked.

He emphasised that the initiative reflects BWSO’s belief that non-state actors must play an active role in complementing government efforts by investing in young talents and providing platforms for creativity and problem-solving to thrive.

The CEO reaffirmed the organisation’s readiness to sustain such interventions, noting that empowering young innovators is key to driving long-term development in Bauchi State and Nigeria at large.

In his remarks, the Coordinator Bala Wunti 247 Students Network, Comrade Umar Farouk Musa, commended the consistent support provided by the organisation ,describing the initiative as a major boost to student innovation and creativity.

He encouraged participants to leverage the knowledge and exposure gained from the summit to further develop their ideas into viable solutions that can address societal needs.

Innovations exhibited at the summit include sugarcane juice extraction machine with by-products usable as cooking fuel, a digital attendance system with scanning capabilities and a banana-based Hepatitis B vaccine concept, demonstrating the potential of student-driven ideas to address pressing development and environmental challenges.
