Bauchi Information Commissioner reaffirms Commitment to the Sustenance of Anti Corruption Campaign.

Bauchi State Commissioner of Information and Communication Alhaji Usman Shehu Usman has reaffirmed his commitment to partnering with the Association of Northern Nigerian Students, Zero Tolerance for Corruption, in the sustained fight against corruption.

The Commissioner made the pledge after being decorated as an Anti – Corruption Ambassador and conferred with the title of Grand Commander of Northern Nigerian Students presented by the Association.

Speaking at the ceremony held in his office, Alhaji Usman Shehu Usman stressed that corruption can only be effectively tackled when individuals acknowledge its existence within society and take personal responsibility to confront it, noting that corruption permeates all sectors and remains a major obstacle to development.

He advocated the inclusion of anti – corruption education in school curricula, describing it as a critical step toward instilling integrity, accountability, and ethical values among students from an early age.

The Commissioner also disclosed that the National Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has summoned State Commissioners of Information, charging them to play active roles in supporting the nationwide anti – corruption crusade.

He pledged the support of state – owned media organisations (BATV, BRC and 10 Community Radio stations) in sensitising the public on the dangers of corruption and the need for collective action to eliminate the menace.

Earlier, the President of the Association, Comrade Sadiq Sabo,who presented the award certificate to the Commissioner, explained that the honour was conferred purely based on merit, in recognition of the Commissioner’s reputation, dedication, and contributions to the state, the nation, and the international community.

Comrade Sabo described the Commissioner as a selfless and committed leader who has served the state both locally and in the diaspora, noting that he willingly returned home from abroad to contribute to the development of his state.

He further revealed that the Association has organised a series of school – based programmes in collaboration with organisations such as the ICPC, EFCC, Drug Law Enforcement Agencies etc , aimed at educating young people on the dangers of corruption and other social vices.
