Rotary Club Bauchi partners with NGO : Conducts free medical outreach to communities

Rotary Club of Bauchi, in partnership with Shen Initiative, a Non governmental Organisation has conducted free medical outreach for Inkil community in Bauchi Local Goverment Areas, aimed at providing critical healthcare services to the people.
Areas of ibtervention include blood tests, malaria screening, maternal health support, and eye care, with 50 eyeglasses distributed to beneficiaries.

Speaking during the outreach programme, President of Rotary Club Centre Bauchi, Mr Adeyemi Adekunle, emphasized the link between health and productivity, saying that a healthy child is one who can go to school, a healthy mother can care for the child, and a healthy father can provide for the family.

Mr Adekunle noted that Inkil was selected because the club had not previously operated there, despite conducting similar exercises across the state, adding that, beneficiaries were identified using criteria provided by traditional heads, who best understand local needs.

Mr Adeyemi Adekunle also acknowledged support received by Bauchi state Primary Healthcare Agency and appealed to other government organizations and NGOs to replicate the gesture, adding that when united, society can be healthy, just as the saying goes that health is wealth.

Also speaking, , , President of Shen Initiative, Mr Taiwo Adeola explained that her organization focuses on maternal health and out-of-school children, pointing out that the Organisation decided to partner with Rotary Club in view of its humanitarian disposition towards assisting the less priviledged through health care service delivery.

Mr Adeola observed that many women avoid hospitals due to laziness rather than lack of access, noting that the outreach gives them courage and informs them of the benefits of accessing healthcare during childbirth.

She called on other partners and the public to consistently support such activities so that people can have a sense of belonging.

Earlier, the Village Head of Inkil, Alhaji Sani Abdullahi, expressed gratitude to both organizations, describing the intervention as a welcome development.

Several beneficiaries expressed delight with the outreach, as some had received free delivery kits to include diapers, detergents among other items.
