
Journalists in Bauchi State have been charged to always abide by ethics of the profession through exhibition of professionalism in the conduct of their primary responsibilities.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Alhaji Aminu Hammayo gave the charge while speaking at the annual Ramadan Iftar organized by the Bauchi State Council of the NUJ, where he said journalists have a role to play in promoting peace and unity among citizens.
He explained that journalists are important ingredients for development, hence the need to observe their work with care and professionalism.
Alhaji Aminu Hammayo commended the State council and Journalists in the State, for organizing the Ramadan Iftar and for maintaining a good partnership with the State government especially in promoting the activities of the State regularly.
Commenting on the NUJ project, the SSG said government is fully committed in fulfilling its promise, saying the delay was as a result of review of the bill of quantities for the project which was completed by professionals, adding that the governor has already given approval for the project.
Earlier speaking, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Umar Sa’idu appreciated the SSG for honouring the invitation despite the short notice, saying this shows that government is friendly to the media family in the State.
He appealed to the State government to actualize the recruitment of casual workers presently serving in the State owned media houses to permanent Staff.
