Bauchi State Government has declared Friday, November 28, 2025, as a work-free day in honour of the late prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
The declaration, approved by Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, is to allow civil servants, students, followers of the late scholar, and the general public to participate in the funeral prayers scheduled to hold on Friday in accordance with Islamic rites.
According to the government, the work-free day is a mark of respect for Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, whose life and teachings left a profound impact on Islamic scholarship, Qur’anic education, spiritual guidance, and the promotion of peace, unity and moral values across Nigeria and beyond.
While mourning the death of the revered scholar, the state government called on residents to pray for the repose of his soul and extend support to his family, students, followers, and the wider Muslim community.
