Media practitioners in Bauchi advised to equip themselves with the nation’s electoral Act.

Journalists in the state have been challenged to adequately equipped themselves with the nation’s electoral act towards good governance.

The move is aimed at reforming the country’s electoral act for effective dispensation of election processes.

The Executive Director of a Civil Society Organisation , the Peering Advocacy and Advancement Center in Africa, PAACA, Mr Ezenwa Nwagwu gave the challenge at the training programme organised for Media practitioners, traditional and religious institutions, on the Electoral Act ,held in Bauchi.

Mr Ezenwa explained that the training was organised to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively understand and communicate the provisions of the Electoral Act with a view to dessiminating factual information.

He expressed optimism that the training would pave way for better understanding of key provisions of the act towards successfully conduct of the electoral process.

According to him, it is also to ensure stronger media that would have the power to influence effective implementation of the nations electoral process.

Also Speaking, the Programme officer PAACA, Mr Isiah Amonye, charged Media practioners to utilise the information acquired for onward transmission to the public.

The Programs Officer also stressed the need for Nigerians to fully understand the electoral to act to enable them exercise their democratic rights better.
