The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC),Bauchi State Council’s have inaugurated 13-man technical committee that will review and harmonize the salary structures of the state.
The State NLC Chairman, Comrade Maidara M Shuaibu made this known during a press conference on the twenty-twenty four New National Minimum Wage, held at the Medical and Health Workers Union Secretariat Bauchi.
He said, the step is taken towards implementing the twenty-twenty four National Minimum Wage.
Comrade Maidara revealed that, the reason behind setting the committee is to develop ideas on salary structures in the state before approaching Governor Bala Mohammad with the need to implement the New National Minimum wage act.
He said the leadership of the organized Labour and Trade Union Congress at the National level had recently organized a two days training on the strategies and methodologies of conducting minimum wage negotiations at the States and Local Governments Levels towards achieving the set objectives.
Dauda M. Sha’aibu expressed hope that there will be success at the end of the committee’s assignment for the benefit of all civil servants.
He noted that must of the civil servants in the state are facing difficulties due to the economic meltdown which affected the Nation, adding that the committee is expected to submit a report in one week time to the state Executive Council of the unions for necessary actions.
