BREAKTHROUGH ACTION NIGERIA ADVOCATES THE NEED TO DESSIMINATE ACCURATE INFORMATION AIMED AT PROMOTING EFFICIENT PUBLIC HEALTH

Public health reporters have been urged to disseminate accurate information on health concerns to promote a healthier community in Bauchi State.
This call was made by Dr. Abdulmajid Yakubu Ahmad, the Risk and Community Engagement Officer for Breakthrough Action Nigeria, Bauchi State, during a media orientation on public health emergencies held in Azare Katagum Local Government Area.
Dr. Abdulmajid encouraged journalists to develop skills in identifying false narratives and response with clear and accurate information, using accessible language that will foster understanding and trust, urging them to refrain from spreading unverified information, particularly on vaccine-related issues.
He emphasized that some individuals tend to spread misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation to mislead the public on health matters, which hinders societal development.
Dr. Abdulmajid called on health program producers and reporters to actively combat misinformation by using prebunking and debunking methods, ensuring that the public receives reliable information for improved health outcomes in Bauchi State.
