The Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria has indicated interest to sustain working relationship with the state government, in order to meet the yearning and aspirations of the people in the areas of health Care service delivery across all the twenty local government areas of the state.
This indication was made during the Eleventh Quadrennial State Delegate Conference of the union with the theme Nigerian Health System, in the Era of Economic Downturn, Issues, Challenges and the Way Forward, held at the Command Guest-In, Bauchi.
The Speaker of the state House of Assembly Alhaji Abubakar Y. Sulaiman at the occasion, noted that the house, would enact a law, that promote the delivery of healthcare services in the state.
The speaker represented by the Chairman House Committee on health, Alhaji Lawal Dauda commended members of medical and health workers union for their commitment to providing effective healthcare services to the people.
Declaring the conference opened, the state Head of Civil Service Alhaji Yahuza Adamu Haruna, appreciated the way and manner members of medical and health workers union handle their jobs and urged them not to relent.
The Head of service represented by the permanent Secretary servicom matters bureau Barrister Sani Umar, reiterated the present administration’s desire, to the total overhauling of healthcare sector in the state, for the benefit of the citizenry.
Also speaking, the state NLC Chairman Comrade Dauda Maidara Shu’aibu, stressed the need for the harmonization of CONHESS salary structure to enable members of the union get their full benefit on retirement.
He emphasized the need for the inclusion of the students of the College of Health Technology undergoing Community and Environmental Health Courses on pre service scheme list.
Comrade Maidara Shu’aibu also used the medium to appeal for the permanent and pensionable appointments to volunteer health workers in the state, to further streghnthen the provision of primary healthcare facilities to the people at the grass root.
In his remarks, the State Commissioner Ministry of Health Dr. Sani Muhammad Dambam, assured readiness to justify the existence of the ministry, to partner with relevant agencies, to harness the healthcare system in the state.
Dr Sani Muhammad Dambam, promised not to leave any stone unturnd, to ensure we effective healthcare services to the people.
On his the State Commissioner Ministry of Information and Communication, Comrade Usman Garba Danturaki, who is the Chairman of the occasion, affirmed the ministry unwavering commitment in propagating government’s effort at all times.
The Commissioner charged the healthcare workers, to live up to their responsibilities in order to achieve the set objectives.
In his Contribution, the Chairman Trade Union Congress Comrade Sabi’u Barau Ningi, pleaded with the state Governor to device a means, that would cushion the hardship of workers, before the full implementation of seventy thousand naira new national minimum wage to the state civil servants.
