Tafawa Balewa Local Government Council has vowed to ensure massive enrollment and retention of pupils in public schools.
To this end, the local government administration has inaugurated Enrollment Drive Campaign team, to be headed by the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, including traditional rulers, representatives to faith based organizations, media and other relevant stakeholders.
The team was saddle with the responsibilities of embarking on door to door mobilization to re- echo the need for parents and guardians to enroll their wards into schools.
Addressing the team members during a one day sensitization training on enrollment drive campaign organized by the State Universal Basic Education Board in collaboration with the UNICEF held at the council chamber of the local government in Bununu, the Executive Chairman of Tafawa Balewa Local Government Alhaji Samaila Wakili, said the importance of education cannot be quantified, hence the need to put all the necessary resources in place to ensure that the educational background of the area is maintained.
To achieve the said goal, Chairman said parents and guardians must ensure that school aged children are enrol.
Represented by his Deputy Alhaji Maigari Ahmed Jambil, the Chairman assured the team that all needed resources would be mobilized to ensure that the exercise records great success.
In his goodwill message, the Village head of Bununu Alhaji Salisu Muhammad, said traditional rulers will give in their support for the exercise to succeed.
In his presentation, the resource person at the training Mr. Yakubu Emmanuel said the campaign is scheduled to commence from 16th to 20th of this month and hoped that the team will work out modalities to achieve the desired objectives of the government.
