BAUCHI STATE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY EMBARKS ON DESILTING AND FUMIGATION OF DRAINAGES IN TORO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA IN COLLABORATION WITH THE BAUCHI PROJECT UNIT OF ACRESAL

 

 

The Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency in collaboration with Acresal has embark on desilting and fumigation of drainages in Toro Local Government.

Speaking to newsmen during the exercise the director general BASEPA Dr Ibrahim Kabir represented by a director at the Agency Mustapha Abdulhamid Ahmad Sain Dass said the program plans to empty all drainages to enhance free flow of water to avert flooding in the state.

The director said the program supported by Acresal a world bank program has earmarked five communities in toro Local government to clear all its drainages for free flow of water.

Malam Mustapha Abdulhamid Ahmad said at the commencement of the program about eighty youths were engaged in Toro Local Government for the exercise.

The director warned all residents of the area against dumping of refuse in drainages to avert flood disaster in the state as the government would take drastic action against dumping of refuse in drainages.

The Monitoring the exercise, according to the executive chairman Toro local government Pharmacist Ibrahim Abubakar Dembo commended the state Governor for embarking on the desilting exercise across the state.

Represented by Malam Mohammed Yakubu sarkin Jangari the chairman said the local government would fully support the program to enhance success.

Alhaji Dembo commended youths of the area for coming out massively to participate in the exercise and call on them to accord more support to government policies and program.

In his remarks, the councillor Toro ward Mohammad kabir Usman and the area Manager BASEPA Toro all acknowledged the progress of the exercise.
