NAWOJ ZONAL SECRETARY CHARGES JOURNALISTS TO ENGAGE IN CONTENT CREATION FOR SENSITISATION ON THE PROTECTION AND MANAGEMENT OF DISASTERS .

Journalists in the state have been asked to create content aimed at sensitizing the public protection and management of disaster particularly at this period of flooding.
The National Zonal Secretary Nigeria Association of Women Journalists in the state, Hajiya Hauwa Aliyu made the call while presenting a paper on disaster protection and management particularly at this period of flooding, written by the founder of African HuB for Community Progress Initiative, ,Mrs Sabaatu Elizebeth Danladi, Organised” in collaboration with the Bauchi State Emergency Management Agency and the Red Cross held at the American Space Bauchi.
She encouraged women Journalists to reach out to the communities affected by flood in order to access proper statistics for concerned authorities intervention.
Hajiya Hauwa noted that flood stories were underreported and appealed to the women Journalists to give utmost priority towards reporting disaster stories with a view to assisting the affected communities.
She called on government, NGOS and others well to do individuals to support areas within Bauchi metropolis that were affected by flooding.
Hajiya Rashida Yusuf said the training is aimed to enable women Journalists learn on how to report disaster which affected many societies.
She therefore charged them to put into practice what they learnt at the orientation session.
In his remarks, the SEMA facilitator, Alhaji Adamu NaYola, stressed the significance of media towards mitigating the effects of disasters, which he noted cannot be over emphasized, hence the need for women Journalists to join the crusade.
