Tafawa Balewa Local Goverment Council Conducts Summit in the fight against Banditary

In a renewed effort to curb banditry and other security threats, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Council has convened a high-level security summit to map out renewed strategies against criminal activities.

Held at the Council Chamber in Bununu, the summit, was in response to Governor Bala Mohammed’s directive for the local government council to strengthen its security architecture.

Addressing the gathering, the Council Chairman, Alhaji Samaila Wakili, said the meeting was necessary to sustain the onslaught against bandits and other criminal groups terrorizing rural communities, stressing that security is a collective responsibility.

Sama’ila Wakili called on community members to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to security agencies, nothing that timely information from the public remains one of the most effective tools in preventing attacks.

Discussions centered on practical steps to deepen collaboration between local communities and security operatives. Participants highlighted the need for intelligence sharing, neighborhood watch systems, and tighter regulation of businesses that could aid banditry and kidnappings.

The council pledged to support all measures agreed upon and work closely with the state government to ensure lasting peace and stability in Tafawa Balewa Local Government and beyond.
