Bauchi Govt Warns against Land Encroachment at Kafin Zaki Dam Project : Introduces Mandatory Registrstion criteria for Prospective farmers.

Bauchi State Government and the Jama’are River Authority has introduced a mandatory registration form for all farmers seeking land in the Kafin Zaki Dam irrigation area.

The move aims to curb illegal use and sale of land as plans intensify to revive the long-delayed dam project.

The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammad Gwaram, during an official visit to Jangu and Shagari Villages.

He was represented by Comrade Sale Umar Misau, Director of Inspectorate and Monitoring Services and chairman of the committee on monitoring distribution and allocation of farmland in de-reserved forests.

According to him,, the state has received complaints of land encroachment in the project area, stressing that while government sometimes allows residents to use land for their benefit, it will reclaim such lands when required for development.

The directive followed Governor Bala Mohammed’s order to resolve all land issues surrounding the Kafin Zaki Dam irrigation zone in Ganjuwa Local Government Area, which was first initiated over 40 years ago.

Meanwhile, the State Government has also ordered all individuals encroaching on lands designated for the irrigation project to vacate the site immediately.

On his part Abba Rasheed, representing the Managing Director of the Jama’are River Authority, advised those wishing to continue farming in the Area to forward their request to the board for necessary action
