Bauchi First Lady advocates for spaces to young girls to curb street hawking.

Bauchi State First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed has called on market associations to provide a befitting position for young girls to sell their products in order to reduce the problem of girls street hawking in the state.

Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed gave the advice during the opening of a one day public sensitization program on mitigating and coordinating Girl child street hawking in the State, held at the Double Four.

The First Lady who explained that street hawking should be abolished, emphasized the need for the leadership of the markets to provide the girls with a befitting place to do their trading.

She called on parents to also support the girl child to enable them participate in societal activities.

Hajiya Aisha Bala described the theme of the program” Empowering the Girl child – Protecting her Future” as apt and commended the organisers for a job well done.

In his remarks Bauchi State Commissioner of enlightenment in the State Shari’a Commission, Alhaji Abdulrahman Khalil said the essence of engaging with the hawkers is to provide them a level playing ground in the markets to improve their business.

He said the move is to reduce the problem of child abuse in the streets of Bauchi State.

In his remarks, the District Head of Bauchi, Alhaji Nuru Adamu Jumba assured of the traditional institutions support to achieve success.

Speaking at the occasion, the Commissioner of Hisbah Barrister Aminu Balarabe Isa restated the need for parents to keep a watchful eye on the movements of their wards and the company they keep.

In her remarks, the Coordinator of Almuhinbbah Foundation, Hajiya Zarah Y. M. Baba assured of the readiness of the agency to partner the State Shari’a Commission to achieve the desired objective.

According to Her, the Organization will continue to educate and enlighten the girl child especially street hawkers.
