North East Development Commission constructs and handed over Fire Service Station to ATBU Bauchi

The North East Development Commission has handed over a newly constructed Fire Service Station and borehole to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Gubi Campus, Bauchi State, to enhance safety and improve access to potable water within the institution and its host community.

The facilities were executed as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen critical infrastructure in tertiary institutions across the region.

Speaking during the handing-over ceremony, the Minister of State for Regional Development, Alhaji Uba Maigari Ahmadu, advised the management of ATBU to ensure the effective and sustainable use of the facilities.

He said the projects were designed to promote a conducive teaching and learning environment while also boosting emergency preparedness.

Also speaking, at the handing over of the facilities, the Managing Director, North East Development Commission, Alhaji Muhammad Goni Alkali underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to rebuilding the North East region and providing institutions with the infrastructure required for sustainable development.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, represented by the university Liberian, Dr. Dauda Adamu
described the fire service station as a “beacon of security” not only for the university but also for surrounding communities.

He expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and the NEDC for the intervention, and reiterated the university’s commitment to fully integrate the fire service station into its emergency response system through regular training programmes and safety workshops.

The Chief Librarian further noted that, the borehole will significantly improve water supply on campus, thereby enhancing the welfare of students and staff.

Dr. Dauda Adamu commended Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, for his continuous support to developmental initiatives.
