
Bauchi State Government has described the 50th anniversary of the state’s creation as a defining moment to assess past achievements and plan deliberately for the future.
In his Golden Jubilee address, Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir said Bauchi State, created on February 3, 1976, has endured decades of political, economic, and social challenges while recording significant progress in key sectors of development.
The Governor acknowledged the vision and sacrifices of the state’s founding fathers and past leaders, including former military and civilian governors, noting that, their contributions laid the foundation for governance, unity, and development.
According to him, Bauchi State has made notable gains in agriculture, healthcare delivery, education, infrastructure, and security, with over three thousand kilometres of roads constructed across the state and expanded access to schools and healthcare facilities.
Governor Bala Mohammed revealed that agriculture remains the economic backbone of the state, supported by vast cultivable land, rivers, dams, and favourable climate, while livestock production, solid minerals, tourism, and renewable energy present additional growth opportunities.
He also highlighted the discovery of oil and gas in the Kolmani area, describing it as a game-changer that will stimulate industrial growth through forward and backward linkages.
On long-term planning, the Governor disclosed that the state has adopted a 10-year development plan, the Bauchi State Development Plan 2023–2033, aimed at making Bauchi one of the top ten most developed states in Nigeria by the year 2033.
He emphasized that the Golden Jubilee celebration is not just ceremonial, but a call for collective responsibility, urging citizens to emulate the discipline and commitment of the state’s founding fathers.
Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed therefore congratulated the people of Bauchi State and reaffirming his administration’s commitment to peace, inclusive growth, and sustainable development.
