Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to long-term development through the Bauchi State Development Plan 2033.
Speaking during the anniversary state wide address, Governor Bala Mohammed described the Golden Jubilee as a moment of reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to development.
He paid tribute to the former Head of State, who was assassinated ten days after announcing the creation of the states, and prayed for the repose of his soul.
The Governor noted that, Bauchi’s survival and steady progress over five decades, despite political, economic, and social challenges, is a remarkable achievement made possible by the sacrifices of founding fathers and successive administrations, both military and civilian.
Governor Bala Mohammed highlighted major strides recorded by the state in education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, security, and economic development, stressing that, agriculture remains the backbone of the state’s economy, employing about 80 percent of the workforce.
He said Bauchi is richly endowed with vast arable land, solid minerals, livestock, tourism assets, and recently discovered oil and gas in the Kolmani area, noting that the present administration is focused on harnessing these resources to attract investments and create jobs.
The Governor also announced that the Bauchi State Economic and Investment Summit held in 2025 generated investment commitments worth over 5.2 billion dollars, while efforts are ongoing to revive moribund industries through public-private partnerships.
As part of activities marking the Golden Jubilee, Governor Bala Mohammed unveiled a series of events under the theme “Honouring the Past, Building the Future,” and called on residents to sustain peace, unity, and collective responsibility.
