The Bauchi State House of Assembly has felicitated with the people of the state as Bauchi marks its 50th anniversary of creation, describing the milestone as a moment of collective pride, reflection, and renewed commitment to unity and development.
In a goodwill message by the Spokesperson of the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Mukhtar Garba Kobi, the Speaker, Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman recalled that, Bauchi State was created in 1976 and has since distinguished itself through vast fertile land, year-round economic activities, abundant human and natural resources, as well as rich cultural heritage.
Dr. Abubakar Suleiman described the golden jubilee celebration as a historic milestone that calls for unity among citizens, irrespective of ethnic, religious, or political differences.
He urged people of Bauchi State to reflect on the sacrifices of past leaders and heroes, noting that, their values and ideals should be preserved and passed on to future generations through words and actions.
The Speaker further noted that, Bauchi State has grown into a hub of tourism, local and international trade, and cultural festivities, while maintaining a tradition of respect for constituted authority.
According to him, sustaining peace, unity, and development remains a collective responsibility of all residents of the state.
He emphasized that, the golden jubilee should go beyond celebration, describing it as an opportunity for prayers for lasting peace, economic prosperity, job creation, and solutions to challenges impeding national development.
He also called on citizens to actively participate in the anniversary activities, maintain decorum, obey rules and regulations, and extend support to the less privileged throughout the celebration and beyond.
Dr. Abubakar Sulaiman urged the people of Bauchi State to continue to support the current administration led by Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, praising his leadership and commitment to developmental projects across the state.
He expressed confidence that continued cooperation would lead to greater progress and improved living conditions for residents.
On behalf of the Honourable Members, Principal Officers, and management staff of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Dr. Suleiman wished the state a peaceful and successful golden jubilee celebration, while praying for wisdom for leaders and sustained peace and development in Bauchi State and Nigeria at large.
