Leaders and Clerics calls for peace and moderation as Christians celebrate Christmas in Toro

Christians in Toro Local Government Area, joined their counterparts around the world to celebrate the 2025 Christmas, with community leaders and clerics calling for peace, sober reflection and harmonious coexistence.

The Chairman of the Council, Pharmacist Ibrahim Abubakar Dembo, felicitated with the Christian community, urging them to use the season for self-reflection, prayers for sustainable peace and unity.

In his Christmas message, he advised Christians to celebrate within the teachings of the scriptures and avoid extravagance that contradicts the true essence of the season.

He also commended the peaceful coexistence in the area and encouraged residents to strengthen ties across religious lines for collective development.

Similarly, the Director-General, Isa Babayo Tilde Forum, Yusuf Idris Madaki has congratulated Christians on the celebration and called on them to continue supporting government at all levels for the overall development of the area.

He applauded the Bauchi State Government, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and the Toro Local Government Chairman for their support to Christians during the festivities.

Meanwhile, Christmas services held across churches in Toro witnessed large congregations, as clerics highlighted the spiritual significance of the birth of Jesus Christ.

In their sermons, leaders of ECWA churches in Toro and Ribina, as well as other denominations, described Christmas as a celebration of salvation, love and redemption, urging Christians to live lives that reflect the teachings of Christ.

The clerics cautioned against social vices, drug abuse and excessive celebration, emphasizing the need to pray for peace, unity and national development.

They also called on Christians to live peacefully with adherents of other faiths and avoid actions capable of causing disunity.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Toro Local Government Chapter, Pastor Barnabas Ayuba, congratulated Christian faithful and described Christmas as a period of love and sober reflection.

He urged youths to desist from activities contrary to biblical teachings and thanked government at all levels for providing support and security that ensured a peaceful celebration.
