GOMBE STATE EMERGES OVERALL BEST IN THE NORTH ZONAL QUIZ COMPETITION.

Gombe State has emerged as the overall winner of the North East Zonal Quiz Competition organized by the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS).

The competition, which was held on Thursday focuses on politics and civic education, aims to engage young students in discussions about the legislature, democracy, and governance.

Speaking during the event held at the Education Resource Centre Bauchi, the Director-General of NILDS, Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, represented by Mr. Jerimier Agadah, explained that the quiz competition was designed to broaden students’ knowledge of legislative history, practices, and procedures.

He noted that the NILDS Quiz Championship provides a valuable platform for promoting a deeper understanding of civic education, current affairs, communication, and governance among young learners.

In his remarks, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Education while declaring the exercise open, Dr. Muhammad Lawal Rimin-Zayam, who was represented by the Director of the Education Resource Centre, Mr. Kabiru Ahmad, emphasized the importance of education as the foundation of meaningful societal progress. He noted that the competition encourages students to build resilience in addressing academic challenges while promoting peace and unity.

Dr. Rimin-Zayam commended the organizers for their dedication to sustaining the initiative and ensuring the successful hosting of the 10th edition of the zonal competition. He also appreciated NILDS for its efforts in identifying and nurturing talented students from the grassroots, calling on well-meaning individuals to emulate such initiatives.

The Commissioner further reaffirmed the Bauchi State Government’s commitment to revitalizing the education sector under Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad’s leadership through the continued construction and renovation of classrooms across the state.

Announcing the results at the end of the competition, the Quiz Master, Mr. Lucky Tongs, declared Gombe State as the overall winner after defeating contestants from the remaining five states of the North East region.

Highlights of the event included the presentation of certificates to participating states and gifts to the winners
