The former District Head of Azare, Dammajen Katagum, Alhaji Bashar Kabir Umar, has expressed gratitude to the Bauchi State Government for granting him clemency after several years of being dethroned.
The pardon was announced in an official letter to Katagum Emirate Council,signed by Nasiru Ibrahim Dewu from office of the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission.
The community leader thanked Governor Bala Muhammad Abdulkadir for the pardon, which came after an investigation exonerated him from all blames that led to his unseating.
Addressing followers that gathered to express their happiness at his Kano Road residence in Azare,Alhaji Bashar Kabir Umar stated that he is now free to serve in any leadership capacity and expressed his readiness to serve the government in any new role.
He described Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad as having recorded outstanding successes in projects across the state and urged the people to continue supporting him.
The pardon converts an earlier punishment of dismissal to termination of appointment, with the restoration of his entitlements and gratuities.
