The Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria FOMWAN has distributed 60 food packages to orphans in Bauchi metropolis as part of activities marking the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, the Na’inatul Ameerah of FOMWAN in Bauchi State, Hajiya Lami Umar Hassan, said the association regularly supports orphans during festive periods to enable them celebrate in happiness and comfort.
She stated that the items distributed included bags of rice and two rams, explaining that one of the rams was donated by the state government while the other was purchased through contributions by members of the association.
Hajiya Lami Umar Hassan called on organisations and well-meaning individuals to extend support to vulnerable children, especially considering the growing number of orphans in the state.
She also urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of the items provided.
Speaking on behalf of the parents of the beneficiaries, Malama Aisha commended FOMWAN for the gesture and prayed for Allah’s blessings and continued success for the association.
Some of the beneficiaries also expressed appreciation for the support and offered prayers for members of the organisation.
