Musa Ahmad Musa of Borno and Hafsat Muhammad Sada of Kano states have emerged winners in the male and female categories by clinching overall winner in 60 hizib and Tafsir at the just concluded Quranic Recitation Competition in Maduguri,the Borno state capital.
Announcing the result in Maduguri, the Director Center For Islamic Studies Usman Dan Fodio University Sokoto Professor Abubakar Muhammad Yelwa said all the winners and other participants performed well during the competition and them well in their endeavors.
Earlier, the chairman Local Organising Committee who is the secretary to the Borno State Government Alhaji Bukar Tijjani commended maturity exhibited during the competition by the gathering and those who contributed towards the successful conduct of the competition.
Also speaking,the Pro Chancellor Usman Dan Fodio University Sokoto Professor Attahiru Jega said the competition was aimed at increasing Islamic Knowledge, nurture unity among Nigerians and foster unity as well strengthen relationship with others irrespective of their differences.
Declaring the ceremony closed , Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum who expressed delight for the successful conduct of the competition despite the security challenges pledged the state government resolve to prioritize education in the state.
Governor Zulum urged the participants to imbibe the culture of decipline, dedication and commitment to the service of Allah.
In their remarks, the Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubaka Ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi and the Governor of Katsina state Dr Umar Dikko Radda encouraged the participants to regular recitation of the Glorious Quran for them to be conversant with it.
The overall winners were presented with 5 million naira each and electric car while other winners went home with cars.
