The Chairman of Bogoro Local Government Area, Lawi Yakubu Sumi, has flagged off the distribution of Christmas intervention materials worth over thirty three million naira, to residents of the area.
The intervention, which held at the council secretariat, targets religious and traditional leaders, associations, youth and women groups as part of efforts to support communities during the festive season.
Speaking at the occasion, Lawi Yakubu Sumi described Christmas as a joyful celebration marking the birth and life of Jesus Christ, whom he referred to as the Saviour of mankind.
He urged Christians to emulate the virtues of love, tolerance and peaceful coexistence, as demonstrated by Jesus Christ, and to continue living harmoniously with people of other faiths.
Represented by his deputy, Mulki Markus Masoyi, the council chairman expressed appreciation to the people of Bogoro Local Government for their support throughout 2025.
He noted that, the council had recorded notable achievements in various sectors and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to providing basic social amenities for the benefit of all residents.
Lawi Sumi also called on the people of Bogoro to continue supporting the administration of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, describing the governor as a leader with concern for the welfare of the local government.
He commended the governor for his role in the actualisation of the Zaar Chiefdom, describing it as a historic achievement that would remain unforgettable.
Lawi Sumi further appealed to Christians and Muslims in the area to sustain peaceful coexistence, regardless of religious differences.
Items distributed during the include cash, clothing materials, cows and bags of rice.
