Bauchi State Government expresses commitment to continue investing in the education and empowerment of girls

Bauchi State Government has restated its commitment to promote the education and empowerment of adolescent girls as part of efforts to build a more inclusive and progressive society.

The Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development, Alhaji Sale Mamman, made this known during an event at Kobi Primary School to mark the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child, themed “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead – Girls in the Frontlines of Crises.”

Alhaji Mamman urged girls to stay focused on their education, remain disciplined, and avoid negative peer influence, stressing that education is the foundation of national development.

He also advised parents to support their daughters’ education up to tertiary level.

The Permanent Secretary further cautioned teachers against exploiting students for selfish gain, warning that the government would sanction anyone found guilty of such misconduct.

Also speaking, Malama Habiba Adamu from the Women Affairs Directorate emphasized menstrual hygiene management, advising girls to maintain cleanliness during their periods and not to miss school as a result.

In his remarks, the Director of Child Development, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad, condemned child marriage and street hawking, urging parents to protect their daughters and encourage them to pursue their dreams.

He noted that an educated woman contributes significantly to both family and national development.
