A committee set up by Bauchi State Board of Internal Revenue (BIRS):to monitor and curtail the proliferation of fake & recycling of unauthorized motorcycle & motor vehicle number plates paid a courtesy visit to the Director General Bauchi Roads and Traffic Agency.
The Chairman of the Committee Barrister U. B. Umar in his speech requested the Agency to enforce the laws in the state to the later in other to curtail the unwholesome practices for security reasons.
Barrister Umar said, the Bauchi State Board of Internal Revenue (BIRS) is disturbed over the rising cases of fake plate numbers & recycling of old number plate in the state & adviced the situation must be check by security agencies in the state.
He emphasized that the move has been depriving the state government a lot of revenue & posed security threats.
In his response , the Director General Bauchi State Roads and Traffic Agency , DCM Zubairu Mato Rtd , stated that, the Agency has started doing alot of enforcement in that regard and advised motorists to do the right thing and warned anyone caught with a fake plate number would face the wrath of the law.
The DG further commended the foresight of Chairman of the Board for setting up the committee to minimize the proliferation of fake number plates in the state.
He further added that, the agency has been up and doing in sensiitizing the public in the state, and promised to give the committee the necessary support it deserves inorder to achieve the desired objectives.
