Bauchi State House of Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting government initiatives aimed at advancing the education sector in the state.
The pledge comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen teaching and learning across all levels of education.
Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Dr. Nasiru Ahmed Ala, made the commitment shortly after the 2026 budget defence sessions involving the Ministry of Education, agencies under the ministry, higher education institutions and parastatals.
He stated that, the Assembly remains determined to provide the necessary legislative support to ensure effective implementation of government policies and programmes in the sector.
Dr. Nasiru Ala noted that, education remains a top priority for the state government, and the Assembly is prepared to work collaboratively to address challenges hindering quality education delivery.
These challenges, he said, include infrastructure deficits, inadequate learning materials and manpower gaps in both basic and tertiary institutions.
He explained that, the committee engaged extensively with stakeholders during the budget defence to understand their needs and align them with the state’s development agenda.
According to him, the interactions provided valuable insights that will guide the Assembly in making informed budgetary decisions.
The committee chairman further assured that lawmakers will closely monitor implementation of the 2026 education budget to ensure effective utilisation of allocated resources.
Dr. Nasiru Ahmed Ala commended the dedication shown by education managers and pledged the Assembly’s continued support in transforming the sector for the benefit of children and youths across Bauchi State.
