The Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has fixed May 3, 2026, for the commencement of airlifting intending pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Imam Abdurrahman Ibrahim Idris, disclosed this during an inspection visit to the pilgrims’ enlightenment centre at Baba Sidi Primary School in Bauchi.
He attributed the development to the commitment and support of Governor Bala Mohammed toward ensuring a smooth Hajj operation.
Represented by Imam Hassan Usman Zango, the Executive Secretary said the visit was to assess ongoing orientation exercises for intending pilgrims.
He explained that the enlightenment programme is designed to educate pilgrims on the rites and obligations of Hajj in line with Islamic teachings.
Dr. Idris urged all intending pilgrims to attend the sessions promptly to fully understand the proper conduct of the pilgrimage.
He further revealed that all Bauchi pilgrims have successfully secured their visas.
The Executive Secretary, however, warned that any pilgrim who misses their scheduled flight will be required to pay a penalty of two point eight million naira, urging strict adherence to travel schedules.
He added that the date for medical screening of pilgrims will be announced soon.
In his remarks, Chairman of the Association for Enlightenment of Muslim Intending Pilgrims in Bauchi, Alhaji Isa Garba Rabi’u Ningi, said the association has conducted similar orientation exercises for over two decades, training about thirty thousand pilgrims across the state.
He disclosed that the centre currently caters for about three hundred and seventy five intending pilgrims from Bauchi Local Government Area, comprising hundred women and two hundred and seventy five men.
Alhaji Ningi described the participation of pilgrims from other states as a testament to the association’s impact and commended the Pilgrims Board for its support, including the provision of equipment such as laptops, generator, and projectors to enhance the training exercise.
