Bauchi Govt. Distributes Motorcycles to Boost Supervision in Nomadic Schools

The Bauchi State Government has distributed motorcycles to Desk Officers of Nomadic Education Schools across selected Local Government Areas, as part of efforts to enhance supervision and improve the quality of teaching and learning in nomadic communities.

The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Lawan Muhammad Rimin Zayam, explained that the initiative aims to strengthen monitoring activities in the schools and ensure effective teaching delivery.

He noted that upon receiving a request from the Agency for Nomadic Education, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad promptly approved the procurement and distribution of the motorcycles.

According to Dr. Rimin Zayam, the Governor remains committed to improving the educational infrastructure across the state.

He also revealed that the state, through the AGILE project, is planning to recruit 300 new teachers to address the shortage of qualified personnel, particularly in underserved areas.

The Commissioner praised the current leadership of the Nomadic Education Agency for its tireless efforts in mobilizing and sensitizing nomadic communities to prioritize education by enrolling their children in school.

Speaking at the distribution ceremony, the Secretary of the Agency for Nomadic Education, Alhaji Ahmad Bello, described the motorcycle distribution as a historic milestone, the first of its kind since the agency’s inception. He emphasized that the gesture underscores Governor Bala’s dedication to advancing nomadic education in the state.

He urged the Desk Officers to utilize the motorcycles to reach even the most remote schools and ensure constant supervision for optimal productivity.

The Chairman of the Agency’s Governing Board, Alhaji Imamu Itas, disclosed that the agency initially requested 20 motorcycles, of which 8 have so far been delivered.

He assured that the remaining motorcycles would be provided soon to cover other Local Government Areas.

Despite challenges such as teacher shortages, Alhaji Itas called on Desk Officers to work closely with parents to encourage regular school attendance among nomadic children.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bauchi State chapter, Alhaji Muhammadu Buzaye, appealed to Fulani communities to embrace education by sending their children to school regularly.

He commended the government’s continued efforts to standardize and improve educational outcomes across the state.

The distribution of motorcycles is expected to significantly enhance mobility and oversight, contributing to the overall effectiveness of nomadic education programs in Bauchi State.
