Bauchi Government Vows to Improve Education Quality for Nomadic Children

The Bauchi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the quality of education among nomadic children across the state.

This assurance was given by the Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Agency for Nomadic Education (BASANE), Alhaji Ahmed Abdullahi Bello, during a special monitoring exercise in Gamawa Local Government Area. The exercise focused on assessing the security structure, teaching and learning conditions, and overall peace in nomadic schools in the area.

During the visit, Alhaji Bello received several complaints regarding a shortage of teachers in some nomadic schools. He expressed concern over this challenge and emphasized the urgent need to address the issue to enhance educational standards.

He also raised alarm about certain unpatriotic individuals attempting to undermine the cultural values of the nomadic communities.

It could be recalled that UNICEF has advocating for safe learning and teaching through provision of adequate security measures in Schools.

The Executive Secretary, urged stakeholders within the Fulani communities to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in or around nomadic schools to the nearest security agency or the nomadic education authority for swift action.

Alhaji Bello encouraged graduates from nomadic backgrounds, particularly those with education qualifications, to apply for the ongoing state teacher recruitment exercise available online, saying the initiative is aimed at addressing the shortage of teachers in nomadic schools across Bauchi State.

He reiterated the agency’s commitment to sensitizing and mobilizing nomadic communities and stakeholders on the importance of school security to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment.

The Executive Secretary also commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad for his unwavering support and prioritization of nomadic education, which he said is key to achieving the agency’s goals.
