Bauchi State First Lady, Dr Aisha Bala Mohammed, has underscored the importance of peace and harmony between Christians and Muslims as a critical foundation for sustainable development in the state and the nation at large.
Dr Aisha Bala made the call when she received Christian faithful on a Christmas homage, at the Government House in Bauchi.
She stressed the need for mutual understanding, tolerance and peaceful coexistence among communities of different religious and ethnic backgrounds, describing peace as an indispensable tool for socio-economic growth and development in any society.
According to her, good character and generosity remain effective means of addressing societal challenges and attracting others to embrace positive values and ideologies.
The First Lady also emphasized the crucial role of mothers in ensuring the proper upbringing, discipline and education of children, noting that this would help raise responsible and productive members of society.
She acknowledged that the responsibilities of motherhood are enormous, demanding and sometimes overwhelming, and urged women to rise to the challenge for the greater good of society.
Dr Aisha further advised women, particularly those in the teaching profession, to be God-fearing and exemplary in the discharge of their official and personal duties, in order to help build an egalitarian society free from moral decay.
She noted that, women are widely regarded as the mirror of society.
Expressing confidence in the capacity of women to deliver when given opportunities, the First Lady called for continued support and cooperation for the present administration in Bauchi State to enable it to sustain the delivery of democratic dividends.
She also commended Governor Bala Mohammed for appointing three women as Special Advisers in the state, namely, Halima Ibrahim Dimis, Barrister Sha’awanatu Yusuf and Mrs Hassana Arkila.
As part of the Christmas celebration, Dr Aisha Bala has distributed over 20,000 wrappers to Christian women groups and individuals across the state to enable them celebrate the festive season in joy.
