ATBU Bauchi elects Prof. Ibrahim Inuwa, Governing council member of the university.

The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi has elected Comrade Ibrahim Ibrahim Inuwa, a council member Representing the Academic Staff and Alumni association of the university at the governing council for the period of four years.

Declaring the election result after the election at a convocation held at Yelwa campus of the ATBU, the Chancellor of the University and Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Rufus Adeyemo Aladesanmi the third, Charged the newly council member at to join hands with the university management in taking critical decisions for academic excellence.

Rufus Aladesanmi represented by the Acting Vice Chancellor of ATBU Professor Sani Usman Kunya said the election is part of NUC requirements which stimulates that there must be a council representative from the Convocation, a vacuum he said had been left unoccupied for a long time.

Announcing the election result, the Chancellor said with 159 votes cast and 3 invalid votes, Professor Ibrahim Ibrahim Inuwa emerged winner with 102 votes to defeat his opponent Professor Abdulsalam Ya’u Gital who polled 54 votes.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected council representative and sitting ASUU Chairperson, Professor Ibrahim I. Inuwa thanked almighty God for giving him this opportunity to be a council representative of ATBU at the 12th Governing Council and promised to carry every member of ATBU community along in order to champion the university’s problems both academic staff and Alumni before the council.

He used the medium to appreciated the effort of Elcom Committee for doing everything possible to conduct a free and fair convocation election in ATBU, Bauchi.
