AMINU SALEH COLLEGE OF EDUCATION TO COMMENCE DUAL MANDATE EDUCATIONAL  PROGRAMME

The Aminu Sale College of education Azare says it is working round the clock, to commence dual mandate education  programme in the college.

Sadiya Mohammed announced this while interacting with members of the state assembly committee on education who were in the college for an oversight function.
She said already, the governing council of the college had given the college management the green light to facilitate the commencement of the programme, stressing that, the matter is before the state government, waiting for approval.
   Professor Sadiya Mohammed said the move is to pave way for a revolutionary transformation in teacher education.
     According to her, the dual mandate policy was approved by the federal government to allows Colleges of education maintain their core mission of producing high quality teachers while also offering degree programme.
   Professor Sadiya Mohammed added that the new approach acknowledges the changes of education, where institutions must adapt to meet the evolving needs of students and educational needs of the state and the country at large.
   The Provost further revealed that, one of the significant benefits of the dual mandate policy is that, it provides a seamless transition from the 3 year Nigeria Certificate in Education(NCE) programme to a 2 year degree programme to eliminate the need for affiliation with Universities.
   Professor Sadiya Mohammed has similarly announced plans by the college to commence skills acquisition programme in various fields.
   She said the programme is part of the college’s efforts to impact skills on the youths, by making them self reliant.
   The college provost said the institutions has achieved huge successes in infrastructure development, students welfare and staff development.
She commended the state lawmakers especially members of the education committee for their legislative support to the college when ever the need arises for the educational development of the state.
Professor Sadiya Mohammed also thanked the state Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for his commitment in enhancing and promoting education  activities in the state.

Responding, the Deputy chairman of the education committee who led the delegation for visit Hon. Musa Wakili Nakwada said, they were at the college to get first hand information on the college’s activities during the year under review and to ensure transparency and accountability in dealings with the college resources.
Musa Nakwada while commending the college for producing well motivated teachers with high personal and professional discipline, assured the provost of the tenth assembly’s readiness to revisit some of its existing educational laws and introduce new ones for the advancement of education in the college.
