
Academicians and media experts have called for sustained collaboration between federal and state governments to develop the Bagel/Zungur and Kafin Zaki dams in Bauchi State.
The call which was made during a public lecture organized by the University of Jos Alumni Association in Bauchi, is aimed at diversifying the states economy and create employment opportunities for youths.
Guest speaker at the occassion, Mr. Shuaibu Usman Leman, said the dams would boost irrigation farming, commerce, and economic stability in the area if properly harnessed.
Mr Leman urged journalists to hold authorities accountable, while Dr. Gad Peter Shamaki, Global President of the University of Jos Alumni Association, emphasized the need for members to support government in policy-making and economic development.
Also speaking, the Zonal Director of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Alhaji Dahiru Garba, encouraged the Alumni to contribute to their alma mater’s development, and the Emir of Jamaare, Alhaji Nuhu Ahmad Wabi, pledged his support for the association.
