Concerned youths and women of Toro Local Government Area in Bauchi State have raised concern over what they described as a growing political crisis within the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, warning that the party risks losing its stronghold in the area if urgent reconciliation measures are not taken.
At a press briefing and open letter issued at the NUJ Secretariat Bauchi, the Leader of the Group, Alhaji Safiyanu Muhammad Tama appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the national leadership of the APC, and stakeholders in Bauchi State to urgently intervene and restore unity within the party structure in Toro LGA.
The group, operating under the umbrella of various youth organisations, women associations, grassroots political support groups and student bodies, said Toro had remained one of the strongest electoral bases of the APC in Bauchi State, noting that party loyalists in the area had consistently supported the APC through campaigns, mobilization and elections.
Alhaji Safiyanu Tama noted that many party supporters in Toro are frustrated following recent political developments, particularly the withdrawal of Senator Shehu Buba from the political contest and the denial of the senatorial ticket to Ibrahim Ali Usman, PhD.
Safiyanu Tama described Ibrahim Ali Usman as one of the party’s most influential grassroots mobilizers in Bauchi South, citing his contributions to youth and women empowerment, educational support, humanitarian assistance, and community development projects across the seven local government areas in the zone.
..The group warned that continued neglect of key stakeholders and failure to address grievances within the party would trigger defections and weaken the APC’s political structure in Toro LGA ahead of future elections.
While reaffirming their loyalty to the APC and support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the concerned youths and women urged the party leadership to immediately initiate reconciliation meetings with aggrieved stakeholders and strengthen communication with grassroots supporters.
They also called for the inclusion of youths and women in party decision-making processes, political recognition of Toro LGA’s contributions to the APC in Bauchi State, and strategic engagement with Ibrahim Ali Usman and other loyal stakeholders.
