Bauchi PDP Deputy Chairman Urges United Front Against Banditry, Condemns Political Violence in Azare

Politicians in Bauchi State have been urged to support all initiatives aimed at tackling banditry and other forms of criminality to ensure lasting peace and security across the state.

The Deputy Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State, Alhaji Falalu Attah, made the appeal while speaking with journalists on the growing security concerns in Azare.

He condemned the recent clash between supporters of the PDP and the All Progressives Movement (APM) in Azare, describing the incident as a violation of citizens’ rights and a serious threat to peaceful coexistence.
Alhaji Attah commended the proactive measures introduced by the traditional institution, community leaders, and the Emir of Katagum to strengthen security in the area. He described the initiatives as timely and commendable.

According to him, the measures include encouraging traditional rulers to promptly report suspicious movements to security agencies, while supporting the efforts of the Civil Rights Commander in Azare, Ahmed Mohammed Kwara Nkuji, other community-based security advocates, and the police in identifying and arresting those involved in criminal activities.

Addressing the political tension involving members of the PDP and the APM, Alhaji Attah explained that the decision by some affected politicians to align with the APM was a strategic move to protect PDP aspirants from possible disqualification through legal challenges.

He expressed confidence that any attempt to disqualify the aspirants would not succeed, noting that the political arrangement was designed to safeguard their participation in the electoral process.

The PDP Deputy Chairman called on residents to continue supporting the government, security agencies, and traditional institutions in the collective effort to eliminate banditry and other criminal activities, stressing that maintaining peace and security requires the cooperation of all stakeholders.
