NSC bars defaulting states from Para events at National Sports Festival

The National Sports Commission NSC has reiterated its resolve to enforce discipline, fairness, and strict adherence to established regulations governing the 3rd National Para Games.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Special Assistant on Media, Office of the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Kola Daniel.

According to the Commission, the move underscores its commitment to promoting professionalism and safeguarding the integrity of para sports in Nigeria, warning that defaulting contingents will face sanctions in line with competition rules.

The Director General of the NSC, Bukola Olopade, stressed that compliance with guidelines remains essential for the development and credibility of sports in the country, noting that the rules are designed to ensure fairness and equal opportunity for all athletes.

He explained that under Article 13(V) of the competition regulations, states that registered athletes but failed to participate in the Games will be barred from competing in para events at the forthcoming National Sports Festival.

Olopade reaffirmed the Commission’s determination to sustain Nigeria’s strong legacy in para sports, adding that enforcement of rules is key to talent development, discipline, and the continued growth of competitive sports.
