New Nawoj Officials Inaugurate in Bauchi

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ has inaugurated its newly elected officials to pilot the affairs of the Association for the next three years, with a renewed commitment to professionalism, advocacy, and capacity building.

Speaking during the inauguration, the National President of NAWOJ, Comrade Aisha Ibrahim represented by the Zonal Secretary, Zone E Comrade Hauwa Aliyu, charged the new officials to remain faithful and dedicated in the discharge of their responsibilities.

She urged them to uphold the ethics of journalism and work collectively to advance the objectives of the Association.

Hajiya Hauwa also congratulated the newly elected executives, expressing confidence in their ability to justify the mandate given to them by members.

In his remarks, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Comrade Umar Sa’idu, appreciated NAWOJ for its steadfast dedication and described the Association as up and doing.

He encouraged the leadership to sustain the tempo by prioritizing the training and retraining of members, stressing that continuous professional development remains key to excellence in journalism practice.

In her acceptance speech, the re-elected Chairperson, Comrade Rashida Yusuf, outlined her vision for NAWOJ, which she said centres on enhancing professionalism through consistent training and retraining of members, strengthening advocacy efforts, and championing causes that positively impact the lives of women and girls in society.

She expressed gratitude to the NUJ for its immense contribution to her success, noting that the support and cooperation enjoyed would never be forgotten.
Hajiya Rashida reaffirmed her commitment to continue contributing her quota towards the growth and development of NAWOJ, while commending the Electoral Committee for a job well done in conducting a credible exercise.

In her vote of thanks on behalf of the newly elected officials, the NAWOJ Secretary, Comrade Amina Ahmed, appreciated members and stakeholders for their confidence and support, pledging that the new leadership would work assiduously to move the Association to greater heights.
