The member representing Sade constituency in Darazo Local Government at the Bauchi state house of assembly Alhaji Lawal Dauda has raised alarm on the increase and menace of dangerous driving by motorcycle riders in Bauchi Metropolitan and other strategic areas.
He made the call under matters of urgent public importance during plenary presided by speaker Abubakar Sulaiman.
The lawmaker revealed that, some youth have formed the habit of over speeding, removal of mopular and unnecessary horning as well as one-way driving which violates the law of the land.
Lawal Dauda recalled that, last week around Fadamar Mada, a one-way violator has heat a family of four that resulted in loss of one life and others sustain various degrees of injuries.
He added, the ugly act undermines the cultural and religious values of Bauchi people and endangered innocent lives.
Lawal Dauda therefore appealed to the state government to direct BAROTA in collaboration with other sister security agencies to impose strict measures against the roads rules and regulations violators to control the problem.
He also called on community and religious leaders to sensitize the populace on the dangerous of reckless driving, unnecessary horning and removal of mopular.
Contributing to the matter, member representing Lame constituency Bala Abdu Rishi emphasized the need for the authorities concern to ensure strict penalties to the offenders.
The Speaker of the state assembly Abubakar Y. Sulaiman directed the house committee on works and transport to oversight the activities of BAROTA and report to the house for necessary action.
