The Katagum Emirate Council has turbaned five new village heads to serve communities in Shira Local Government Area of Bauchi State, as part of efforts to strengthen traditional leadership and community development.
Shortly after the appointments, representatives of the Emir of Katagum, Alhaji Umar Faruq, accompanied the newly turbaned village heads to Faggo, where they officially presented their appointment letters to the District Head of Girawa/Faggo, Alhaji Nura Ahmed.
During the presentation ceremony, the representatives charged the new traditional leaders to prioritize children’s education, promote peace and security, and work closely with relevant authorities to curb the spread of illicit drugs within their respective communities.
The newly five turbaned Village Heads will serve under the supervision of the District Head of Faggo, Alhaji Nura Ahmed, overseeing the traditional districts of Faggo, Balijam, Ajangara, Zigau and Malaje.
Addressing the appointees, the District Head of Faggo/Girawa Alhaji Nura Ahmed urged them to remain impartial in the discharge of their responsibilities and avoid undue influence from political office holders.
He advised them to stay committed to justice, embrace the common people, and render selfless service without intimidating or humiliating members of the public.
He further encouraged the village Heads to promptly address complaints brought before them and maintain close ties with their communities.
The District Head also commended the Emir of Katagum, Alhaji Umar Faruq, for his commitment to strengthening traditional institutions.
The newly turbaned village Heads include, Alhaji Inuwa S. Kabir from Ajangara, Habibu Dauda as the Village Head of Faggo, Malam Ashiru Balijam village Head of Balijam, Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu, among others.
