Governor Bala Mohammed transmits a bill to BAHA for the establishment of additional Emirates, Chiefdom and Districts

Bauchi State House of Assembly has received five executive correspondences from Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, seeking the legislature’s consideration on several key matters of governance and administration.

Presenting the letters during plenary, the Majority Leader of the House, Saleh Hodi Jibir, said the communications cover proposed laws, amendments, and requests for confirmations.

According to him, the first letter contains a draft bill seeking to establish the Bauchi State Chieftaincy Law, which also proposes the creation of thirteen new Emirates, one new Chiefdom, and one hundred and sixteen new Districts across the state.

He said the second correspondence seeks an amendment to the Bauchi State Contributory Pension Commission Law 2022, while the third requests the confirmation of Dr. Hadiza Abdulkadir Kango as a Commissioner and member of the Bauchi State Executive Council.

Sale Hodi Jibir added that, the fourth letter presents Idris Babaji Shehu to the House for confirmation as the substantive Auditor-General for Local Governments.

After deliberations, the House resolved that the draft bill on the Chieftaincy Law and the proposed amendment to the Contributory Pension Commission Law be referred to the House Committee on Rules and Business for further legislative action.

The lawmakers also directed that the Commissioner-nominee, Hadiza Abdulkadir Kango, should appear before the House for screening and possible confirmation on Tuesday, 14th October 2025.
