Governor Bala Mohammed condemns Police blockade of PDP National secretariat

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State, who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party does not belong to any single individual, stressing that it belongs to all Nigerians.

Speaking in Abuja on the recent police blockade of the PDP National Secretariat, the governor said the PDP Governors’ Forum will not sit by and allow the party to be undermined by those who neither understand its history nor respect its future.

Governor Bala Mohammed assured that the governors will work closely with the new National Working Committee to protect the party’s secretariat, defend internal democracy, and resist any form of sabotage.

He maintained that, the PDP will not be intimidated or silenced, noting that the party has survived tougher challenges and will emerge stronger and more united.

He also cautioned the presidency against empowering individuals who lack character and democratic values, accusing some of using state power to settle internal political scores.

According to him, suppressing opposition does not serve the nation and only weakens institutions that hold the country together.

In his remarks, the newly elected National Chairman of the PDP, Tanimu Turaki, called on the international community to intervene and help safeguard Nigeria’s democracy, which he said is threatened by the actions of the APC-led federal government.

He urged the presidency and relevant authorities to address what he described as an abuse of power, warning that democracy cannot thrive under political intimidation.
