Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has pledged to prioritise the security of lives and property to promote rapid economic growth of Bauchi State.
The Governor was speaking when he received the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress in its peaceful protest against insecurity at the government house,
in Bauchi.
He lamented the deteriorating nature of insecurity in Nigeria and reaffirmed his administrations commitment towards improving the security architecture of the state,for sustainable development.
The Governor represented by his Principal Private Secretary Alhaji Hashimu Kumbala, described the Labour union as very important segment of the society and commended the labour movement for maintaining decorum during the peaceful protest.
He enumerated seventy thousand naira minimum wage with the consequential adjustment,payment of pension and gratuities,as well as the employment of ten thousand civil servants to strengthen the state workforce, as the clear attestation of the governors concern to civil servants.
Also speaking the Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour Matter, Comrade Usman Garba Danturaki,expressed delight with the relationship between the state government and the labour leaders and promised to maintain the synergy.
Comrade Usman Danturaki commended the Labour union, for conducting themselves in a peaceful manner during the protest and urged them to sustain the spirit.
In his remarks, the Chairman Bauchi State Council of the Nigeria Labour Union Comrade Dauda Maidara Shuaibu said the nationwide peaceful protest against insecurity, is the unanimous decision by the national executive council meeting of the Union in Lagos,to embark on the protest against insecurity across the cointry.
Comrade Dauda Maidara Shuaibu emphasized that, the union,is demanding for exposure and prosecution of perpetrators of insecurity in the nation.
He identified Governor Bala Mohammed as worker friendly governor, who demonstrated commitment to the welfare package of the workers. and presented a letter for onward review to the Governor and assured the unions determination to be steadfast on the plights of their members.
