
The Emir of Katagum, Alhaji (Dr.) Umar Farooq II, has conferred traditional titles on fourteen distinguished sons of the emirate in a colourful turbanning ceremony held at his palace in Azare.
Speaking during the event, the Emir emphasized the importance of preserving the values, dignity and cultural heritage of the Katagum Emirate.
He urged the newly installed title holders to uphold the honour of their new positions, serve as role models, and continue contributing to the unity and development of the emirate.
Alhaji Umar Farooq II commended the recipients for their dedication, service and contributions to the growth of Katagum Emirate and Bauchi State.
He noted that, their selection was based on records of exemplary service and commitment to community development.
Among those turbanned were Retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Abubakar Muhammad, as Sarkin Yakin Katagum; Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital Azare, Dr. Dauda Abubakar Katagum, as Zanna Dujima of Katagum; Alhaji Yakubu Umar Mai Gadau as Dan’Iyan Katagum; and Alhaji Bappah Azare as Sarkin Ayyukan Katagum, among others.
Speaking to newsmen after the ceremony, the new Dan’Iyan Katagum, Alhaji Yakubu Umar Mai Gadau, expressed gratitude to the Emir for the honour and pledged loyalty to the emirate council and constituted authorities.
He also appreciated family members, friends and well-wishers for their support and promised to justify the confidence reposed in him.
Similarly, the new Sarkin Ayyuka of Katagum, Alhaji Bappah Azare, thanked the Emir and his council for the recognition and vowed to uphold the norms and traditions of the institution for the progress of the emirate and Bauchi State.
Prayers were offered for peace, prosperity and long life for the Emir, as well as continued stability in the Katagum Emirate and Bauchi State.
