Committee on Distribution of farmlands convenes critical dialogue between Farmers and Herders towards attaining peace

The Committee on the Distribution of Farmland in Reserved Forests has convened a critical peace dialogue between herder and farmer leaders in Gamawa Local Government Area

The meeting which is part of the committee’s mandate to curtail persistent clashes and ensure equitable resource sharing across Bauchi State was held at the office of the chairman Gamawa Local Government.

In his speech, the Committee’s Chairman, Alhaji Sale Umar Misau assured stakeholders that the allocation process would be transparent and governed by clear state policies.

Alhaji Sale Umar also, issued a strong warning about any encroachment that is not approved by government would be met with strict legal consequences, emphasizing that fairness must be upheld for all parties.

In his response, the chairman Gamawa Local Government Alhaji Madaki Ahmad Gololo represented by his Deputy Umar Yakubu, thanked state government delegation and the committee for leading peace initiative.

Alhaji Umar Yakubu also urged all community stakeholders to embrace dialogue and work together to sustain cooperation and development in the area.

On land allocation, the Director of Works Gamawa Local Government Bappayo Ibrahim, provided detailed explanation of the allocated land, and announced significant resettlement initiative, revealing that the local government upon receiving approval from State Government approved allocation of land to five hundred households affected by recent flooding.

Alhaji Bappayo Ibrahim added that the action follows a government determination to resettle the affected families at Gadiya and Kafin Romi areas of which four thousand hectares of land was approved by the governor himself through appreciate channels.

In their remarks, Fulani leaders Alhaji Bello Manu and Alhaji Sani Adamu expressed appreciation for the process, stating that recent land distribution was conducted smoothly and without complaint.
