Committee on Distribution of farmlands assures of fairness in it’s assignment

The Committee for Farmland Distribution in De-reserved Forest has emphasized its commitment to be just and fair process of re-allocation of existing farmlands a move to resolve ongoing farmer-herder conflicts in Darazo Local Government.

The Chairman of the Committee, Comrade Sale Umar Misau, made it clear that no land would be taken from one farmer to give to another, noting that only government could revoke land for public use.

Comrade Sale made the statement when the committee visited Darazo Local Government as part of its ongoing tour of the de-reserved forest in Bauchi state.

Comrade Sale Umar warned that any allocation violating official guidelines would be revoked and that neither the ministry nor state government would approve re-allocations between individuals.

In her remark, Deputy Chairman Darazo Local Government, Hajiya Amina Musa, emphasized support for government’s efforts, calling on the citizens of Darazo to always remain supportive to government and embrace anything that will bring lasting peace.

Hajiya Amina Musa categorically, denied any local government awareness of plans to re-allocate lands and urged citizens to expose perpetrators of violence.

On his part, Chairman Miyetti Allah Darazo local government Mallam Jingi Shadarki described what happens recently as a setup plan to destabilize Darazo.

Key resolutions from committee included preserving all grazing routes and water access, conducting community dialogue before any land allocation, and establishing boundaries through security agencies.
