Bogoro LG pledges support for Measles, Rubella and HVP vaccination Campaign in the area.

The Chairman of Bogoro Local Government Area, Yakubu Lawi Sumi, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the forthcoming integrated campaign against Measles, Rubella, and Human Papilloma Virus in the council area.

Yakubu Sumi made the pledge during a meeting of the Local Government Task Force on Immunization, held at the council chamber in Bogoro, to deliberate on preparations for the upcoming Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign.

Represented by the Leader of the Council, Gwandah Simon, the chairman assured that the local government would provide all necessary support to ensure the success of the exercise.

He appealed to parents and guardians to cooperate by bringing out their children to receive the life-saving vaccines once the campaign commences.

Earlier, the Local Government Immunization Officer, Tubi Daniel, said all arrangements had been concluded for the flag-off ceremony.

He added that various stakeholders, including health personnel, ward development committees, religious leaders, teachers, and community organizations, had been trained in preparation for the campaign.

The Director of Primary Health Care in Bogoro, Godwin Hakuri, commended the council chairman for his consistent support to the health sector.

He urged the local government to sustain its assistance to ensure a successful campaign.

Hakuri explained that Rubella is a viral disease characterized by fever, headache, cough, and body pains, and is transmitted through coughing, sneezing, and close contact.

He disclosed that the vaccination exercise is scheduled to commence on Saturday, October 18, 2025, across all communities in Bogoro Local Government Area.

Also speaking, the Local Government Technical Assistant of the International Vaccine Access Center, Alhaji Mohammed Ali Bello, said the vaccination would cover children aged between nine months and fourteen years.

He noted that, vaccination teams would reach all parts of the local government to ensure full coverage.

He appealed to traditional and religious leaders to sensitize their followers on the importance of the exercise.

In his vote of thanks, the Village Head of Bogoro, Nuhu Tafida, appreciated all stakeholders for their efforts and pledged his continued support for the campaign through community awareness.
