Bauchi State NAWOJ bags National Award as best performing chapter.

Bauchi State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has received a National Award as the Best Performing Chapter in recognition of its remarkable contributions to media development and women advocacy in the state.

The national leadership of NAWOJ also commended the Bauchi chapter for being the first in the country to successfully host the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting in 2024, an accomplishment that boosted its visibility and demonstrated strong organizational capacity.

During a brief ceremony in Bauchi, executives of the chapter presented the award to the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Mukhtar Gidado.

Speaking at the event, the Chairperson of Bauchi NAWOJ, Rashida Yusuf, said the honour reflects the chapter’s commitment to professionalism, capacity building and consistent advocacy for women and girls.

She added that successfully hosting the CWC meeting was a significant milestone that showcased Bauchi’s hospitality and leadership within the association.

Bauchi NAWOJ reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the momentum, strengthening its programmes and expanding its impact across the state and the journalism profession.

Receiving the award, the Special Adviser, Comrade Mukhtar Gidado, commended NAWOJ for its exceptional performance and for projecting the image of Bauchi State positively at the national level.

He assured the association of the government’s continued support, especially for initiatives that promote gender equity, responsible journalism and community empowerment.
